Request for Donations
The James River Batteau Festival has had difficulty meeting the bare bones expenses we incur for several years. For this reason, we ask everyone who participates to help in a reasonable manner to help fund the festival.
The James River Batteau Festival incurs expenses for everything from portable toilets to insurance. The festival is financed by entry fees paid by each Batteau program as well as profits from the T-Shirt booth. To help offset the significant cost of putting on the festival, we are asking that canoeists and others who use the sites help share in paying for them. We are asking that individuals consider making a donation as listed below at the T-Shirt booth. We use the honor system, nobody will ask you to pay your share.
Canoe programs - (Boy Scout troups etc.) Each batteau pays a $200.00 registration fee to participate in the festival. If you are bringing a significant number of individuals, may want to be considered the same as a batteau program at which point the $200.00 donation would be appropriate and would cover all your participants. You should also contact us (ralph@hipeak.com) so that you can receive a Captain's Packet which will have information about camping etc.
Individual canoeists - (participating the entire week) We are asking that each canoe make a donation of $25.00 which will cover you for the entire week.
Individual canoeists - (participating only part of the week) We request that you make a donation of $5.00 per canoe per day.
We feel these donations are reasonable and ask you to pay them voluntarily at the T-Shirt Booth. Please be aware that we are only asking individuals to make a contribution if they are using the facilities or property secured by the festival.
